Tatar Halik Izhati

This set of documents were ripped out of someone's hand as they were passing by, or so it would seem. The first 30 something pages are missing. The last who knows how many pages are missing. It is a scan of a book that seems to have been photocopied at least twice. I think I was able to photocopy this book very quickly while in Germany, like a spy quickly taking microfilm pictures of something mission critical and potentially very harmful.

These seem to be folk expressions about various topics, but I'm not sure how to group them. Very interesting.

I'm looking for the complete book. I have only 24 pages and will post them as a .pdf soon.
okay this is soon, here you go:

Any Book To Learn A Little More Tatar

This book is a great example of how sometimes, when you tell people at a Russian bookstore that you're willing to purchase any book that they can find published in the Tatar Language, that you'll receive some incredibly boring books. At the expense of a little boredom, my vocabulary is nourished, at least. Here's the cover.

Tatar Music Book Volume 2, yup

Here is volume 2 in .pdf format. I'm getting better at this and it's available as a 59 MB single file. This book is about 240 pages, about 100 pages longer than the first. This book is for the intermediate level pianist. The Treble staff is helpful for transcribing the tunes for other instruments. I'm able to pick nice guitar lines out of this. I could be persuaded to break this up into files smaller than 20 MB to email. (Gmail.com offers free email accounts that can handle attachments up to 20 MB)
Sadly, this volume has no strange pictures of little girls running down staircases. (with bows in their hair)

The First Volume of this book is posted elsewhere on this blog.

My Home The Music Shop

I'd always had a vision of making my home into a music shop. I'd had a dream to be able to play every musical instrument in the world, at least one simple song. (impossible) People are free to pick up instruments and play. The hootenanny of my dreams has only happened a couple of times, but spontaneous collaborations can be very exciting. Too much music these days is conveyed by machines; Televisions, Car Stereo, Radios at a Cafe, etc.... It's refreshing to hear a real live instrument on the street, a voice in song. People thank me for playing accordion in the park. I feel that they are truly grateful, and I hope to enhance their visit to San Francisco. It becomes an opportunity to teach them about Tatars, Tatarstan, and about what sweet music we have.

This is one of several accordions. It was purchased in Spokane Washington at a flea market and is manufactured in Germany. It has a very shrill "musette" sound, very metallic and romantic.
Do those two words rhyme?
Here's my second classical guitar and a couple of pics of my Piano. The piano is from 1926. I love the legs. It has nice legs, just like me. It sits in front of a beautiful painting of the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul.

Szwede Slavic Books

I'm told by Anita: ( a lovely Polish - Tatar Woman who lives in the SF Bay Area)

Szwede Slavic Books still exists - they moved to Redwood City, just north of the Woodside Bridge, at the corner of Main Street/El Camino. It's still a wonderful store and the people are the same, although sadly Mr Szwede is no longer around.

Сөенечкә Дисәм - Soyenechke Disem

Zenger Toyme

Җырларымның моңлысын;
Көтәм синнән, зәңгәр төймәм,
Мәхәббәтеңнең олысын!..
