Plov - Pilau - Pilaf - Pylaw

Whenever it was our birthday, we would get to choose what we wanted for dinner. My brother would choose Peremech, One cousin would choose Barbacued Ribs (!) , but my choice was always Pylaw. There is nothing more comforting. I make this at home, but it's never as good as Eni's. This recipe claims that it's Uzbek. I'd think many peoples would claim this dish as their own.

This is from a "Have a Soviet Party" cookbook. Along with the pylaw, you are supposed to serve a hammer and sickle shaped cabbage pie on a "Pravda" newspaper tablecloth. Soviet Pop Culture! Buyuruguz!
